Sudan Emergency Relief
Since April 2023, an unrelenting and suffocating civil war in Sudan has displaced over 10 million people. While some have fled to surrounding nations, the majority of Sudanese have sought refuge within more stable areas of the country. As this influx of internally displaced persons (IDPs) overwhelms parts of the nation—and as warring factions make certain areas inaccessible—Sudan finds itself mired in the world’s largest humanitarian crisis.
In Gedaref alone, where our emergency field hospital opened on Christmas Day 2024, there are an estimated 3 million internally displaced persons.
Our hospital is offering lifesaving resources for the hurting people of Sudan, including Caesarean sections for expecting mothers, OB/GYN care, and necessary medicine, nutrition, and hydration resources. The hospital, capable of operating 24 hours a day, can treat up to 36 inpatients at a time and is equipped with a fully-functioning operating room.
Two Australian Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART) members are serving within the teams deployed to this time critical mission.
