Pacific Islands—Typhoon Sinlaku

The aftermath of Super Typhoon Sinlaku has left great needs across the Pacific Islands of Saipan and Tinian. Home to about 45,000 people, residents sustained winds of over 200km/h and severe flooding. Tin roofs sheared off homes, roads have been torn up and cars turned over. Saipan’s only hospital has been impacted by severe flooding and survivors are bracing for a long stretch without access to power and water.

Samaritan’s Purse is currently working with authorities on the ground to determine transport and logistical requirements. Disaster Assistance Response Team members are expected to route to the region in the coming days.

Our logistics teams have begun building and palletising the first 767 airlift containing relief resources to deliver medical care, restore access to water and distribute shelter and other essentials.
