Teach a Child to Read and Write
$55.00
In the far-western Cambodian province of Pailin, a survey found just five percent of primary age students were functionally literate. Samaritan’s Purse We Can Read We Can Write (WCRW) project provides teaching and learning materials for teachers, students and even the parents so that they can contribute to improving the literacy in class and at home as well. Schools are stocked with colourful storybooks and provided reading and numeracy tool kits that teachers can integrate into their curricula. Schools also receive tablets with reading games and reading packages for students and parents, which help teachers to teach students in a clear and engaging way.
In 2024, Samaritan’s Purse Australia & New Zealand invested $148,000 towards We Can Read and Write programs in schools across Pailin that equipped 100 teaching staff and 900 parents with training and resources. The result delivered a world-class learning program for more than 1,600 students. Your gift of $55 provides a student with a brighter learning future.
