Hurricane Beryl – Grenada
Hurricane Beryl, a Category 5 storm recording winds of up to 280km per hour, has decimated the Caribbean nation of Grenada.
Many homes were destroyed, a storm surge has left communities under water and thousands of people are without electricity. At least two people were killed on the island of Carriacou.
The Samaritan’s Purse DC-8 departed our North Carolina USA hangar, a day after the storm, with a 13-member Disaster Assistance Response Team and nearly 22,000kg of life-saving relief for hurricane-devastated residents of Grenada in the southern Caribbean’s Windward Islands.
